It
is fairly straight-forward to ascertain what model you require, do you
have a straight staircase or curved, do you need a fold-away seat or a
more heavy-duty seating area? However, it can be more problematic
to decide upon the financing of your stairlift.
If
you have the required funds to purchase a new stairlift outright, then
you can probably deal with any stairlift supplier or dealer. However,
if the price of a new stairlift is out of your budget, then a second-hand
or reconditioned stairlift, may be the ideal solution for you. You
may just need to shop around a little more to get a good deal, as not all
stairlift dealers offer reconditioned stairlifts.
The
big names in the stairlift industry, such as Acorn Stairlift and Stannah
Stairlifts, will actually sell new stairlifts with an agreement to buy-back
the stairlift when it is no longer required. A straight stairlift
can quite easily be removed and reconditioned for installation elsewhere.
However, it is very rare to find used (or reconditioned) curved stairlifts,
as the tracks for these cannot be re-fitted as easily. |
